The power-relevant features of Raman random fiber laser (RRFL), such as lasing threshold, slope efficiency, and power distribution, are among the most critical parameters to characterize its operation status. In this presentation, focusing on the power features of the half-open cavity RRFL, an ultrafast convergent power-balance model is proposed, which highlights the physical essence of the most common RRFL type and sharply reduces the computation workload, which is valuable in engineering applications. By transforming the time-consuming serial calculation to a parallel one, the calculation efficiency can be improved by more than 100 times. Particularly, for different point-mirror reflectivities and different fiber lengths, the input-output power curves and power distribution curves calculated by the present model match nicely with those of the conventional model, as well as with the experimental data. Moreover, through the present model the relationship between point-mirror reflectivity and laser threshold is analytically derived, and the way for improving RRFL’s slope efficiency is also provided with a lucid theoretical explanation.
七、主讲人简介:

Zinan Wang received the Ph.D. degree from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China, in 2009. From 2007 to 2009, he was a visiting student with Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs. He was a postdoctoral research associate with Cornell University from 2009 to 2010. He joined the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2010, where he has been a Full Professor since 2015. His research interests include distributed fiber sensing and nonlinear fiber optics. He has published more than 150 papers in international journals and conference proceedings, and he is holding 20 Chinese patents and 5 U.S. patents. He has given more than 20 invited talks at academic conferences and served as a TPC member for a number of conferences. His research was highlighted in Optics in 2014 by OSA Optics and Photonics News. He is IEEE/OSA Senior Member, and a recipient of the IOP Publishing Top Cited Author Award (China) in 2018. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE PHOTONICS TECHNOLOGY LETTERS and IEEE ACCESS.
