This presentation focuses on the design and manufacturing of robotic systems, offering a systematic exploration centered around the two core dimensions: design and manufacturing. On the design front, the lecture delves into the theoretical foundations of mechanism, with an in-depth discussion on the principles and methods of degrees of freedom analysis and configuration design, illustrating how a sound mechanism design establishes the performance ceiling of a robot. On the manufacturing front, emphasis is placed on precision control and long-term reliability of mechanical components, with a systematic explanation of the selection principles of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing processes, and verification methods in reliability engineering, revealing the critical path from drawings to high-precision, high-reliability products. Finally, through representative case studies of robotic systems, the lecture presents a practical demonstration of how design concepts and manufacturing techniques are integrated and applied in real-world projects.
VI. About the Presenter:

Peipei ZHANG, Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. In 2011, she received dual Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern Polytechnical University (China) and the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (France). Her current research focuses on online monitoring of CNC machining processes, reliability-based optimization design, reliability evaluation of medical devices, and medical mobile robot design. She has led or participated in more than nine provincial and ministerial-level research projects, published over twenty academic papers. She has taught multiple courses to both Chinese and international students, including《Chinese for Science and Technology》,《Academic Writing in Chinese》,《Fundamentals of Mechanical Design》,《Fundamentals of Robot Design and Manufacturing》, and《Advanced Robotics》, demonstrating extensive teaching experience. She has authored three textbooks, led three provincial-level high-quality courses, and received some teaching achievements awards.
