The team is affiliated with the "Laboratory of Electromagnetic Space Cognition and Intelligent Control Technology," "Tianfu Jiangxi Laboratory," and the "Research Center for Electromagnetic Cognition and Application, UESTC." It currently has 9 faculty members: including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (serving as a part-time doctoral supervisor), 5 professors, 1 associate professor, and 2 lecturers. The team has over 100 graduate students (including postdoctoral fellows and doctoral students).
Closely aligned with major national demands, the team focuses on two core research directions: electromagnetic cognition and application, and functionally reconfigurable cognitive systems. It emphasizes tackling cutting-edge technologies and fundamental theoretical research in related fields. Key research areas include: intelligent perception and recognition of electromagnetic signals, intelligent management and control of the electromagnetic spectrum, low-altitude electromagnetic security and control, 6G communication-sensing integration, adaptive RF/millimeter-wave integrated circuit (chip) design, and next-generation software-defined RF technology. The team has undertaken multiple projects, including the National Key R&D Program, NSFC, the "863" Pre-research funds, provincial/ministerial pre-research funds, and industry-academia-research collaborations. In the past three years, the average annual research funding received has exceeded 10 million RMB. They have published over 60 international academic papers and obtained over 40 authorized national invention patents.
The team fosters a strong academic and collaborative atmosphere, maintaining excellent partnerships with the University of Sheffield (UK), the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tongji University, Nanhu Laboratory (Jiaxing), multiple CETC research institutes, and relevant domestic enterprises. Graduates primarily find employment at leading enterprises and research institutions such as Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu, CETC, and CASC etc. Every year, the team selects outstanding students for joint training programs at two national research institutions: Nanhu Laboratory and the Laboratory of Electromagnetic Space Cognition and Intelligent Control Technology.
