The Image Processing Research Team currently comprises 7 faculty members, including 1 distinguished national talent, 2 national-level young talents, 1 IEEE Fellow, and 3 recipients of the Sichuan Provincial High-Level Talent Program. The team also includes nearly 100 graduate students. The team focuses on research in multimedia, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and wireless communications. They have published over 100 papers in top-tier international journals and conferences, including IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP, IEEE CSVT, IEEE JSAC, IEEE TWC, CVPR, ICCV, AAAI, ECCV, ACM MM, IJCAI and INFOCOM, receiving multiple best paper (and best student paper) awards. The team was honored with the Second Prize for the Natural Science Award from the Ministry of Education in 2014 and the Second Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Chinese Institute of Electronics in 2022. In 2016, the team was approved by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs to establish the “Innovation and Talent Introduction Base for Visual Media Signal and Information Processing”. The team undertakes numerous national-level projects, including NSFC Key Projects, Key International Cooperation Projects, Regional Joint Key Projects, projects under the National “973” Program, as well as NSFC General Projects and Young Scientist Projects.
