The International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV 2019) took place from October 27 to November 2 in Seoul, South Korea. Under the guidance of Professor Hongliang LI, the Intelligent Vision Information Processing Team stood out among numerous participating teams and secured the championship.

ICCV, organized by IEEE, is one of the three top conferences in the field of computer vision, alongside the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) and the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV). It is classified as a Class A conference by CCF (China Computer Federation). This year's conference attracted 7,501 participants from 59 different countries and regions. The ICCV 2019 VisDrone (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Object Detection) Challenge drew nearly a hundred teams from well-known universities, research institutions, and companies worldwide, including the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, the University of Maryland, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, SenseTime, and Samsung Research Institute, among others.
As drones, serving as visual data collection devices, are rapidly and widely deployed in applications such as urban planning, agriculture, and aviation, the need for the analysis and understanding of visual data collected by drone platforms has become increasingly urgent. The VisDrone 2019 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Image Object Detection Challenge aimed to detect predefined categories of objects (such as cars and pedestrians, etc.) from images captured by drones. Unlike conventional target detection, drone images contain hundreds of objects to be detected, and the dataset has a total of 2.6 million labels. The Intelligent Vision Information Processing Team, led by Professor Hongliang LI from the School of Information and Communication Engineering, clinched the championship in the "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Image Object Detection" Challenge.

The award-winning team from our university comes from the School of Information and Communication Engineering's Intelligent Vision Information Processing and Communication Team. Under the leadership of team leader Professor Hongliang LI, the team has achieved a series of leading academic results, applying for multiple international and domestic invention patents or publishing in important domestic and international journals and conferences. In recent years, the team has actively encouraged students to participate in relevant competitions, advocated a pragmatic approach to theory, and fostered students' comprehensive knowledge application abilities, achieving a series of excellent results, including winning the first prize in the third Remote Sensing Image Sparse Representation and Intelligent Analysis Competition sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
