1. General Information

TheNational Engineering Research Center for Advanced Microprocessor Technology is led by Sugon Information Industry (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu Haiguang Integrated Circuit Design Co., Ltd., and the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is China’s first national engineering laboratory dedicated to advanced microprocessor technology and the only national-level scientific research and innovation platform whose core mission is the design and development of domestic microchips. Through the industry–academia–research collaborative innovation, the center undertakes key technological research for the microprocessor industry, develops and standardizes critical technical specifications, and cultivates urgently needed technological innovation talent. Its work addresses fundamental gaps in China’s central processor domain and provides essential support for breakthroughs in the nation’s electronic information industry and microprocessor technologies.

2. Research Directions

By leveraging multi-dimensional co-design across AI algorithms, architecture, and circuits, the center investigates ultra–low-power edge AI processors for intelligent sensing applications in the Internet of Things (including visual sensing, acoustic sensing, wearable devices, and electromagnetic perception). The goal is to simultaneously achieve high accuracy and real-time performance, enabling intelligent, energy-efficient, and miniaturized AI solutions for next-generation sensing terminals.
